Nos Reímos de la Migra (1984)

Translation: We Laugh at the Border Patrol.  In this film, a showgirl is kidnapped and brought to Texas.  A trio of drunks from Mexico City try to save her.

SLEAZY SPOTLIGHT #1 - Isela Vega

Isela Vega plays a lounge performer who is kidnapped by her uncle who runs a gang out of Texas.  Vega provides some top tier full frontal nudity at a pool scene.

Monica (Isela Vega) is the star attraction at a cocktail lounge.  After her performance she's kidnapped and brought to Texas.

Captive at her uncle's Texas ranch, Monica sunbathes on the diving board - providing one of the greatest framing of a scene in cinema history.

Monica makes it clear to her uncle that she's not happy being stuck on his Texas compound against her will, and dives into the pool.

SLEAZY SPOTLIGHT #2 - Rebeca Silva

Silva delivers an amazing shower scene that seems to absolutely go on forever - and, frankly, it still wasn't long enough.

Lolis (Rebeca Silva) and Nacho (Polo Ortín)  and their friends band together to cross the border and rescue Isela Vega.

Rebeca Silva provides an incredibly long full frontal nude scene in the shower as she talks to Nacho in the other room.

Nacho brings Lolis a towel. There's another FFN scene from Silva later in the film, but it's rather poorly lit.

SYNOPSIS

Roberto 'Flaco' Guzmán is a total drunk, waking up from yet another night of boozing.

Monica (Isela Vega) is way out of his league

Flaco is always with two other drunks, Nacho (Polo Ortín) and Emeterio Vergara 'Meto' (Rafael Inclán) who works at a funeral home.

Flaco has a job at a health spa where he massages naked women all day.  He can get away with this because he pretends to be flamboyantly gay.

He's currently working on Mrs. Salazar (Rocío Rilke)

Ms. Ramirez is next.  (This movie is not lacking in full frontal nudity)

Flaco is still assisting Mrs. Salazar and is told to speed it up for the Ramirez.

Flaco is notified of the next customer

Ms. Todd (Karen Castello

Flaco screams that she's doing it wrong - clearly wanting to handle Ms. Todd himself.

And we're immediately taken to the next full frontal nude scene - Lolis (Rebeca Silva) is in the shower.

Nacho brings her a red dress hanging up.

Down at the club - some wonderful music

Monica (Isela Vega) is the star attraction

Nacho is insanely jealous seeing Lolis in her red dress with another guy.

The intimidating La Grititos (María Cardinal)

Monica does her show

Backstage Monica tells Flaco of her worries regarding her uncle.  He's a head honcho in the Texas mob.

Monica joins Flaco, Nacho and Meto for drinks

Carmen Salinas is in all these movies and drives me crazy.

Flaco is back to work

Meto drops by Flaco's work, and also pretends to be gay.

They check out Angélica Ruiz in the shower

They ogle another customer

This movie takes a while to get going.  We're nearly halfway through and the plot hasn't even started yet because we're so invested in tons of gratuitous nudity.  And I'm not even mad.

The woman sees the two gentlemen watching her and screams

And so the work continues

Monica does another performance

She's then abducted by her uncle's henchmen and thrown into a box. She's being taken to Texas because she knows too much about his illegal activities.

The gang gets together to decide what to do.  How can they get Monica back from Texas?

Nacho and Lolis are on board; but the problem is going not just the boarder patrol - but what about the uncle's mob goons in Texas?

Not to worry - La Grititos (María Cardinal) can handle them.

La Grititos proceeds to easily kick the asses of all three men.

So, they all pile into a jalopy to cross the border: Lolis, Flaco, Nacho, La Grititos, and Meto.

This next shot is insanely brilliant.  We see the uncle's mob goons with their guns guarding Monica.  And the camera pans across the swimming pool framed by her open legs.

Isela Vega providing some incredible nudity

Monica swims across the pool to get away from them, and runs right into her uncle.

The gang is still chugging along.

La Grititos easily tackles some border patrol guards and gets their uniforms.

In disguise, Flaco and Meto show up at the uncle's residence saying they need to take Monica with them.

It works, but the uncle gets wise to it.  They are soon pursued by both the border patrol and the mob.

A car chase ends with the uncle geting killed

The gang is arrested. Meto smokes weed with the cops.

The gang is brought to the holding facility at the border.

The judge offers to let them all go.  Why the leniency?

He's getting his dick sucked.

Before going back, the gang celebrates at Pizza Hut.

Flaco returns to work.

The ficheras at the club enable one last surprise.

La Grititos is taking a bath behind a curtain. Flaco and Meto pull it open.

Meto announces that La Grititos is a mujer after all.  Great nudity by María Cardinal by the way.

A smile to the camera at the end.

I include this because this is clearly not 1976 as IMDb currently has it listed.

REVIEW

It's crazy that this movie has such a solid plot with plenty of action - abduction, car chases, border patrol incarceration... but doesn't make its mind up to get started on any of it until nearly the halfway point. Why? Because we have to show thirty minutes of naked women get massages - oh, and Rebeca Silva in a really long shower.  But that was the name of the game for these comedies back in the day, and I honestly wouldn't have it any other way.  I also appreciate how they don't take an angry hamfisted approach to the border crossing as a lot films during this time did.  Instead, it's all rather lighthearted and the border patrol are just shown to be buffoons.  I had a good time, and am glad to have returned to the Mexican comedies of the eighties.

  1. Title would translate as "We laugh at the Border Patrol", Migra = Border Patrol
