Please Don't Eat My Mother! (1973)

A sleazy take on Little Shop of Horrors with a hungry man-sized venus fly trap.

Lonesome virgin loser Henry (Buck Kartalian) 

Henry visits a florist (Art Hedberg) and is drawn to a strange Venus fly trap. He brings the plant home and places it in his bedroom. 

Henry watches a couple in their car. A girl (Flora Weisel) and guy (David Curtis) fool around oblivious that Henry is watching. 

The girl gets drunk - then naked and horny.  Flora Weisel delivers some extremely explicit views

Henry enjoys the view.

Henry just returns to his room to feed his plant which is growing surprisingly fast. Henry starts by feeding it frogs, but soon moves on to dogs. 

Henry's nagging mother Clarice (Lynn Lundgren) becomes just one of many meals for the plant. 

A call girl (Alice Friedland) comes over. 

The prostitute gets too close to the plant and is gobbled up.

Henry watches the neighbors through their window: Harry (Ric Lutze) and his wife (Rene Bond).

The couple get into a big fight.

The wife pulls out a gun and shoots Harry dead. The wife notices Henry at the window. Henry offers to dispose of Harry's body by feeding it to his plant. 

The wife is relieved and rewards Henry. Henry is finally going to get laid.

.. but once again the girl gets too close to the plant.

 In the end we find Henry selling the carnivorous houseplants at the florist shop.

 

REVIEW: The film gets a good deal of hate and it definitely earns it. It's horribly put together - for example, the couple having sex in the car are evidently doing so for many hours if not days, as we see Henry go to town and conduct all manner of activities - all the while we keep checking in on the couple who take a quarter of the film to get through foreplay. Add to that, the dialog is awful, it tends to drag and get repetitive. All that being said, the film is so weird 'n' sleazy I couldn't look away. Had the writers/ director had a tiny bit of skill and understanding of how to make a movie, this could have been a cult classic because all the ingredients are there - but it's a swing and miss, with only schmucks like me to appreciate it.
