Mad Doctor on Zombie Island (2008)

(AKA Female Mercenaries 2: Mad Doctor on Zombie Island) The sequel to Female Mercenaries on Zombie Island (1995).  For whatever reason they decided to make a sequel thirteen years later to a movie no one saw. Even more unusual, they decided to make the sequel a two hour opus!

After an unnecessarily long intro which recaps where the last film left off, we meet Cory (Suzi Lorraine) and her boyfriend Drew (Dean Paul).

Drew has been turned into a flesh eating zombie by the mad doctor. But Drew's zombie episodes only last a few minutes.  Cory plans to infiltrate the doctor's lair to retrieve the antidote for her boyfriend.

Tracy (Tina Krause) has been captured by the mad doctor, Gabrielle (Pamela Sutch). After a bit of taunting, she makes Tracy strip.

Gabrielle takes off her top - and it looks like things are headed in the right direction.  But it was not meant to be.

Tracy is tied up in Gabrielle's dungeon.  Karen (Laura Giglio), Tracy's comrade from the previous film, is brought in.

Karen has been turned into a zombie and bites Tracy.

Alexis (Barbara Joyce) is the mad doctor's rival who has stolen her technology for cloning.

Alexis tests the cloning device on one of her minions, Jessie (Debbie D.). Jessie is put in the cloning chamber and turned into several perfect replicas.

Then one of the clones is sent out to guard Alex's hideout.

One of Gabrielle's soldiers is lying in wait behind a tree. She's knocked out and carried to Gabrielle's lair.

The Doctor's Sister (Cristie Clark) is at the lair, admiring her hypodermic needle.

Jessie is carried into the lair where the doctor's sister is waiting.

Jessie is tied up in the dungeon.

She's rescued by Jake who is going undercover as one of Gabrielle's guards. But Jake only loosens her bonds - so that she can take care of the doctor's sister when she returns.

When the doctor's sister returns, Jessie knocks her out with a punch.

The table has turned.

Cory has disguised herself as a clone guard to infiltrate the lair in order to get the antidote.

She enters the lair. So far so good.  She hasn't aroused suspicion.

But she doesn't go unnoticed for long.  A guard confronts her.

Cory knocks the gun out of the guard's hand.  Then the guard jumps on top of her, strangling her.

Finally Cory gets the upper hand and strangles the guard.

The guard is dead - but there are many more clones in the lair.

Karen and Gabrielle clones are wandering around.

An Alexis clone stands guard

The Alexis clone is shot and falls on the guards' bodies.

The Karen and Gabrielle clones are then killed

Their bodies are dragged off to be disposed of.

Jenny (Kerri Taylor) is Cory's sister - and she plans to find her.

Jenny sneaks up behind Gabrielle and Karen clones and kills them while they are facing Drew.

They take the uniform from the dead Gabrielle clone.

Clad in her guard disguise Jenny is able to find the real Gabrielle.

But Gabrielle is too cunning, and kills Jenny. Well that was pointless.  Jenny, we hardly knew you.

Alexis captures Gabrielle. She tries to fight back, but is knocked out and tied to the boards.

But the table is turned once again as Gabrielle's sister arrives with her guards to rescue her.  Alexis is forced to strip... but then the tables turn for the last time as Gabrielle is burned alive. The end leaves it open to whether the real Gabrielle was killed or whether she was just a clone.

REVIEW: Wow - what an unexpectedly long film, with a lot going on.  Unfortunately, most of what's going on is just the same shit over and over again.  I can appreciate the perverted slobbering over every actress' upskirt and the overall horniness of each frame - I'm sure they had to constantly clean the lens from all the fogging and drool.

But I jest.  I have to respect the aspiration to make such a lengthy picture.   And when you think about it, the cloning idea is genius way to avoid paying additional cast, so the picture felt a lot bigger than just a handful of actors.  Plus, it did honestly hold my interest longer than those Hobbit movies.  Still, as sleazy as it was, the nudity is sparse and extremely tame - and as mentioned, the same shit happens again and again. So you may feel the call of the fast-forward button.  I won't judge.

RATING: ★★★★★★☆☆☆☆ 6/10
