Love Letters of a Nun (1976)

 

(Original Title: Cartas de amor de una monja) A nun gets a hankering for sex and wrestles with the sinfulness of it all. 

Saturday Night Special (1976)

 

A gritty grade-z heist film featuring Jamie Gillis and several anonymous naked women.

Reformatório das Depravadas (1978)

 

Another Ody Fraga sleazefest from Brazil about reform school girls getting abused, abusing others, abusing themselves... 

Sandra: The Making of a Woman (1970)

 

Monica Gayle stars in this film about a smalltown girl who has a sexual awakening in San Francisco.  It's a Gary Graver jam, so it has that detached art-house vibe.

Deep Thoughts (1980)

 

(Original Title: Pensieri Morbosi) The gag that plays throughout the movie is that the audience can hear the thoughts of the ensemble characters, as well as see their fantasies.  The thoughts and fantasies, as you might imagine, are often of a sexual nature - the source of the "comedy" in this film.

Sleeping Beauty (2011)

 

Written and directed by novelist Julia Leigh, it's presented as an artsy work, based on various literary inspirations. But from my perspective, it's not much different than those sleazy movies playing at grindhouse and drive-in cinemas of the seventies (you know, like every movie covered on VZ1).  But it has the style and polish of a "legit" independent cinema production.

Surprise Party (1983)

 

A nostalgia flick from Roger Vadim.  You'd think with this being a Vadim picture there would be a lot of information about it.  Yet, as far as I can tell, it's pretty much forgotten. Perhaps rightly so - the film is like American Graffiti and Dazed and Confused, in that it just follows a bunch of teenagers around for a bit, without much attention to plot.  Unfortunately, this didn't quite have the mojo of those other two nostalgia pictures... but it does have something they don't have: full frontal nudity. Giddyup.

The Erotic Memoirs of a Male Chauvinist Pig (1973)

 

An adult film about a guy unfulfilled by all the sex the seventies could offer.  His wife is also growing bored despite every effort to make things exciting.  An act of violence somehow sets things right - at least for the guy.

Une Vraie Jeune Fille (1976)

 

(Translation: A Very Young Girl) Directed by Catherine Breillat from her novel; it wasn't released for another twenty-three years due to the close-ups of Charlotte Alexandra's vagina (and the production company going belly up). 

Italian Omelette (1978)

 

(Original Titles: Tortilla a la Italiana, Cugine mie, My Cousins) A sleazy romp featuring Franca Gonella which, when calculated by percentage of frames, may have more nudity than any Italian sex comedy of the seventies.

The Demons (1973)

 

A Jesús Franco film about a possessed nun seeking revenge; featuring a goodly amount of masochism and torture.

Specimen: Female (1971)

A seventies version of the "roughie" from the previous decade, featuring sexploitation all-star Terri Johnson.  It is loosely based on The Collector (1965). 

On the Game (1974)

 

A British faux documentary about the history of prostitution.

Malabimba (1979)

 

A wildly sleazy Exorcist rip-off from Italy. 

Wife by Day, Lover by Night (1977)

 

(Original Title: Esposa de día, amante de noche)  A Spanish romance about a married couple who experience a multitude of temptations in their work, but try to remain faithful.

Of Love and Death (1977)

 

(Original Title: Del amor y de la muerte) Superfox Amparo Muñoz stars in this twisted Medieval romance from Spain.  

Si las mujeres mandaran (o mandasen) (1982)

 

A role-reversal movie set in the future.  As in Reverse Sex (1982) from Brazil, the men are the homemakers and the women the cigar smoking brutes.

Eros, the God of Love (1981)

 

(Original Title: Eros, O Deus do Amor) An artsy Brazilian film about a dude who thinks back to the many women he's lusted after since childhood.

The Naive Lover (1980)

 

(Original Title: La amante ingenua) A Spanish film about a sexy secretary who tries to lure her lecherous boss into blackmail.

The Donor (1985)

 

(Original Title: El Donante) Andrés Pajares stars in this Spanish comedy about a playboy who donates his penis, but finds that he still needs his unit in the afterlife.

¡Qué tía la C.I.A.! (1985)

 

A Fernando Esteso comedy utilizing the well-worn gag of having a hapless oaf unknowingly brought into the action-filled world of espionage.

Crazed Couple Seek Surrogate Mother (1989)

 

(Original Title: Pareja enloquecida busca madre de alquiler) A Spanish comedy about a couple who hire a surrogate mother. 

Diabolic Nymphs (1978)

 

(Original Title: Ninfas Diabólicas) Brazilian movie starring the great Aldine Muller, also Patricia Scalvi. A family man is lured by two sirens by the sea; what starts as a harmless fling ends up getting dark.

Night of the Walking Dead (1975)

 

(Original Title: El extraño amor de los vampiros) A Spanish vampire flick starring Emma Cohen.  From León Klimovsky the director who gave us The Vampires Night Orgy (1973) and Vengeance of the Zombies (1973).

Erotic Dreams of Cleopatra (1985)

 

(Original Title: Sogni erotici di Cleopatra) An Italian historical erotica about Cleopatra, the plot to kill Caesar, and of course lots of women getting naked.

Zelda (1974)

 

An artsy Italian film about a kinky couple who play sexual games which leads ultimately to one of them dying.

Donne e magia con satanasso in compagnia (1973)

 

An Italian anthology of vignettes dealing with the occult... specifically, charlatans and con artists who pretend to be sorcerers and practitioners of the occult.

Captain Rauhbein from St. Pauli (1971)

 

A German action flick about a grizzled old captain who gets into adventures as he's hired to transport a vaccine and then rescue some nurses.

The Erotic and Crazy Time Tunnel (1983)

 

(Original Title: El erótico y loco túnel del tiempo) A nerd uses a time machine to have sex with women from prehistoric days to the future.

The Secret Nights of Lucrezia Borgia (1982)

 

A Spanish-Italian collaboration about an encounter between the infamous Lucrezia Borgia and a Robin Hood type character.

J.R. Strikes Back (1983)

 

(Original Title: J.R. contraataca) Sequel to They Call Him J.R. (1982).  This time JR has his suffered a dick injury and must avoid looking at beautiful women to avoid further pain and death. As always, everyone around him is plotting to steal his fortune.

They Call HIm J.R. (1982)

 

(Original Title:Le llamaban J.R.) Dallas was extremely popular in Spain, and while this has nothing whatsoever to do with the show, it does feature a rich guy in a cowboy hat.  So, good enough, I guess.  It was popular enough to spawn a sequel.

Deseo (1976)

 

I'm game for anything with the great Emma Cohen.  A My Tutor (1983) type film where a young student is seduced by his teacher.

Jet Marbella Set (1991)

 

A throwaway Spanish comedy about a couple of hapless shysters who get wrapped up in a criminal enterprise.

White on the Outside, and Pink on the Inside (1971)

 

Blanca por fuera y Rosa premiered onstage in 1943 and became a fairly well known production.  I'm actually pretty familiar with it.  This film takes a lot of liberties, but keeps the central premise that a hot-headed woman becomes possessed by her sweet and innocent dead sister when she has an accident at the same exact location. 

El erótico enmascarado (1980)

 

Fernando Esteso, Antonio Ozores, África Pratt, María Salerno, Azucena Hernández, and Gabriela Mosch... man, what a stacked cast.  Plus, this is prime destape material, with every actress going all-in on the post-Franco nudity.

Hotel De Los Ligues (1983)

 

A sex comedy from Jesús Franco about three loveless couples who have their sex lives reignited by the arrival of a porn star, played by Lina Romay.

Las Siete Cucas (1981)

 

A Mexican film about a widow and her six beautiful daughters who open a brothel in order to make ends meet. 

Strategy for a Deadly Mission (1979)

 

(Original Title: Strategia per una missione di morte) An Italian action film featuring secret agents mowing down Arabs with machine guns and Florence Cayrol constantly in a state of gratuitous nudity.

İntikam (1977)

 

(AKA Askin Sesini Dinleme - Listening to the Voices of Love) It's been a while since we've looked at Turkish exploitation, so let's get to it.  Intikam (Revenge) is a soap-opera with some action and nudity. Nothing more nothing less, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

El Caminante (1979)

 

We've covered so many great Paul Naschy films.  It will be a sad day when we've reached the end of them. In this one, Naschy plays the devil who decides to stroll the Medieval countryside, cause mischief and screw the maidens.

Centerspread (1981)

An erotic sci-fi flick from Australia set in the future where a photographer for a skin magazine wrestles with the nature of his profession and becomes attracted to a poor shopkeeper.
