Naked Girl Murdered in the Park (1972)

(Original Title: Ragazza tutta nuda assassinata nel parco) Not nearly as lurid as the title would have you expect.  A standard whodunit with scenes filmed at an amusement park.

Crazy Desires of a Murderer (1977)

(Original Title: I vizi morbosi di una governante) Giallo about a group of guests in a palatial mansion who are all suspects in a murder, and all have skeletons in their closets.

Anything for Money (1967)

A standard Joe Sarno jam - with his usual misbehaving suburbanites.

City Women (1971)

Sandy Carey, Rene Bond and Sandy Dempsey - three of the top sexploitation actress of the early seventies - star in this adult film about city women who share their erotic fantasies.

Up Your Alley (1971)

A silly sex comedy from one-time director Art Lieberman about a nebbish who must impersonate a gang leader.  Featuring a ton of cameos from early sexploitation actresses such as Uschi Digard, Lynn Harris, Cheri Caffaro and Monica Gayle.

Monsters Crash the Pajama Party (1965)

A short and silly monster flick which featured a fun gimmick meant for live audiences.  Ah, the good old days.

Dangerous Game (1991)

An erotic romance from D'Amato about a kidnapper who has the tables turned on him when the victim holds him hostage and uses him as her personal love toy.

La femme en spirale (1984)

Chuck Vincent had a tendency to employ a lot of porn actresses in his more mainstream softcore releases.  Jean-François Davy does the same here, featuring legend Hélène Shirley and other adult film stars in this rather tame drama.

Sodoma's Ghost (1988)

Lucio Fulci has said this is his worst film, so naturally I had to check it out. A group of teenagers stay in a mansion haunted by a Nazi and naked succubus.

The Children of Violent Rome (1976)

(Original Title: I ragazzi della Roma violenta) An extremely violent movie about neo-Nazis in Italy who commit rape and all manner of ultra-violence.

Tales of a Salesman (1965)

A door-to-door salesman manages to see each of his customers naked thanks to his clumsiness.  Oh, and he's also assisted by a poltergeist.

A Cat in the Brain (1990)

(Original Title: Un gatto nel cervello) Lucio Fulci plays himself, a horror director plagued by the scenes his filmed, unable to separate his movies from his reality. Packed with loads of clips from his filmography.  I say that like it's a good thing.  It's not.

Shameful Shorts (Part 5)

Shocking Set!!? (1965)/ The Room Mates (1965)/ Naked Party/ Naked Moonshine (1964)/ Playgirl Models (1963)/ The Art School for Nudists (1965)

Another round of Shameful Shorts - nudie cutie featurettes from the sixties.

American Desire (1981)

A couple's love life has grown stale. The guy wants to get adventurous while the wife, played by Veronica Hart, is still stuck in her old fashioned ways.

Harvey Swings (1970)

A clueless couple inadvertently meet with swingers.  Harvey is too dimwitted to understand the wife-swapping which is happening right in front of him, but his wife sure understands - and is fully on board.

Emmanuelle's Skin City (2011)

Originally released as part of the Emmanuelle Through Time series, this movie takes place in an alternate dimension Vegas.

The Muthers (1968)

Marsha Jordan and another rich housewife enjoy going to a certain bar for quickies with strangers. The fun has its consequences as her daughter gets wise to the misbehavior.

House of Love (2000)

A straight-to-video erotic movie which tries its damndest to be a "serious movie"; a documentary style profile of an upper crust Hollywood brothel.  It features the great Susan Featherly, so worth a look (as this is among the last Featherly features we haven't covered on VZ1).

The New Girl (2003)

(AKA Model Lust) This movie art doesn't represent this film at all.  It's a silly erotic romance; not a minute of seriousness to be found.

Strange Rampage (1967)

A psychoanalyst discusses a new phenomenon in urban America: women driven mad by loneliness. He gives us four case studies.

Zoom Up: Seiko's Thigh (1982)

(Original Title: Seiko no futomomo: Zoom Up) Shy loser Toshihiko is obsessed with college girl Seiko.  He also has an upskirt fetish, and earns money by submitting these panty shots to a skin magazine.  The question is, will Toshihiko ever stop just photographing women and actually become involved with them - Seiko, his true love, in particular?

The ABC of Love and Sex: Australia Style (1978)

This Australian faux sex-education film takes each letter of the alphabet to demonstrate a subject related to sex.

Scyla (1967)

These sixties Nick Millard films are all alike: dreamy B&W imagery following a detached chick around while a narrator recites pretentious prose.  They're not bad (actually often quite good), but it is remarkable how often Millard recycled this formula.  It's genius really: an otherwise cheap-o sex flick, barely a rung higher than a stag film, is given a stylish Euro veneer, making it seem artsy and cool.

The Animal in Me (1985)

I'm going to generalize here, but these are the stages american porn films followed: (1) Early to mid 70s: ultra low budget bump-and-grind; lots of gross ball sack close-ups.  Clumsily made, but that's part of the charm. (2) Late 70s to early 80s: sizeable budgets, decent acting and ambitious stories. That b-movie charm is lost as they try to emulate mainstream films. (3) Mid to late 80s: home video craters the so-called golden age and things are back to small scale.  Much less aspirational (and lacking that early 70s "loveable weirdness") but chock full of rad fashions and big hair. And that's where this film lands.

Lost and Found (2011)

I just love this movie art; I picture someone picking up this DVD at the Walmart bargain bin expecting a cute romantic comedy, and then getting gobsmacked by the relentless explicit sex.  Of course, this also was released as "Sex Pets" which at least gives an indication of the truly raunchy movie that this really is. My understanding is that there is a fully hardcore version as well... which is actually pretty amazing when you think about it.  Maybe the only hardcore film marketed as a cutesy Hallmark Channel-esque rom-com? Maybe I'm giving it too much credit.  On with the show...

Sexual Intentions (2001)

Is it possible to have a less creative, more generic title for a newage erotica film? Not only does it blend with every other late-night cable straight-to-video title from this period, but it's also a ripoff of a mainstream movie title.  Whatever.  It stars Tracy Ryan, so who really cares - amiright?

Miss Nude America (1976)

This documentary chronicles the promotion and pageantry of the Miss Nude America contest in Roselawn, Indiana.  It also focuses on the owner and host Dick Drost who deals with Muscular Dystrophy.  Honestly, I can't quite tell how "real" this film is.  It is indeed a real event, but it's actually the Nudes-A-Poppin' contest ("The World's Largest Outdoor Nude Beauty Pageant") with a fictional layer to it. I have to say off the top that this has a a ridiculous amount of naked women in it, all displaying it in front of crowds.  In the seventies there were no shortage of women willing to get naked, that's for damn sure.

Help Wanted Female (1968)

You have to love the work of John Hayes .  We've covered a number of his films here; always an interesting watch - and this one is particularly brutal.

Shameful Shorts (Part 4)

A Hot Night at the Go Go Lounge! (1966)/ A-Peeling We Go-Go (1965)/ Nude a Go-Go (1965)/ The Swinging Nurses (1965)/ Rent a Girl (1967)

Another round of Shameful Shorts - nudie cutie featurettes from the sixties.  This time we have material from future exploitation icons HG Lewis and Joseph Sarno.

Shameful Shorts (Part 3)

Double Trouble (1966)/ Nudes & Nuts (1963)/ Hot Numbers (1965)/ Hot Rocks (1965)

Here's another round of Shameful Shorts; four nudie cutie featurettes from our man, Barry Mahon.

1,000 Shapes of a Female (1963)

A Barry Mahon jam about artists and their nude models.  Hey, it was 1963 and you had to skirt the lines of legality.  Nudity was permitted as long as it was teaching us about nudism or art (or medical information, etc.). Give filmmakers an inch they'll make the most of it.  Here we "learn" about various art styles (primitivism, modernism, etc.) all while delivering topless models.  Brilliant.

Blue Ice (1985)

A private detective is hired to find an ancient book. What he doesn't know is that the book has the power to turn any woman into a nymphomaniac, and that a group of Nazi scientists--who fled to the US after World War II--also want the book, and will do anything to get it.

Rod Steele 0014 & Naked Agent 0069 (2012)

(Original Title: Emmanuelle Through Time: Rod Steele 0014 & Naked Agent 0069) I really enjoyed Balls of Thunder (1997), so was interested to see another Rod Steele flick. This one is a mash up with the later Emmanuelle movies.

Touch Me (1971)

Many of the main players in early sexploitation (Sandy Dempsey, Rene Bond, Suzanne Fields, Andy Bellamy) assemble in this pseudo educational film about couples sex therapy.

Laß jucken, Kumpel 5 (1975)

(Original Title: Laß jucken, Kumpel 5: Der Kumpel läßt das Jucken nicht) The fifth in the popular series. [see Laß jucken, Kumpel (1972), Laß jucken, Kumpel 2: The Bull Monastery (1973) and Laß jucken, Kumpel 3: Maloche, Beer and Bed (1974)] Notably, this was the only one of the six Laß jucken films that ventured into hardcore territory.

The Bed Hostesses (1973)

(Original Title: Die Bett-Hostessen) A motley group of German sex stories featuring satanic health-nuts, accidental enimas, lesbian strip poker and playboy cyclists.

Erotic Hunt (1984)

(Original Title: Caçadas Eróticas) Three unrelated stories from Brazil (just like A Taste of the Customer from the same year), one featuring female punks who live in a junkyard and rape men.

Dead Doll (2004)

A sculptor makes a lifelike replica of the wife he strangled.  The doll proceeds to kill everyone who lays eyes on it.  The movie gets shit on a lot, but there's a very haunting quality to the film in large part due to the mysterious death of the actress who plays the titular doll.

See Me, Feel Me, Take Me (1971)

The title is clearly a play on The Who song, and the story is one we've seen a million times before in exploitation films: a naive girl arrives in the big city, becomes a prostitute, gets into trouble and finally must choose between a tragic end or fly the straight and narrow.  That old chestnut.

Classical Romance (1984)

Classic example of porn chic - where it lands squarely in that "thirtysomething" / "Big Chill" zone Boomers were going through at the time.  Lots of Kramer vs. Kramer, On Golden Pond, Tootsie, Tender Mercies type shit. You could go to this porno and tell yourself you're seeing a respectable couples romance - and you wouldn't be wrong.

Knock Outs (1992)

Like Miami Models and a million other bikini movies from the nineties, a group of girls work together to earn money by doing something where they're barely dressed.

Hot Thrills and Warm Chills (1967)

One of the four films directed by Dale Berry, the man who gave us Hip Hot and 21 which had many of the same cast. This one involves three ladies who plan to steal a crown from the King of Sex at the Mardi Gras celebration.

Erotic Nights of the Living Dead (1980)

(Original Title: Le notti erotiche dei morti viventi) Filmed in tandem with Porno Holocaust (1980) with the same cast and crew.

Talk Dirty to Me (1980)

Often cited as one of the best films to come out of the golden age of porn.  (I could have said one of the seminal films to cum out of the golden age of porn... but I'm better than that.) This Anthony Spinelli flick spawned an untold number of sequels.

Lesbian Schoolgirls and the Pleasure of Perverting (1983)

(Original Title: Colegialas lesbianas y el placer de pervertir)  An Andrea Albani film about two conniving greedy bitches who attempt to get a relative's fortune through seduction and deceit.

Tentazione (1988)

An Italian erotic thriller about a rich woman who gets played by a photographer and an up-and-coming model.  But she'll have her revenge.

Dirty Pool (1970)

A cheap softcore flick featuring sexploitation all-stars Neola Graef and Uschi Digard.  A wealthy couple are sexually assaulted by a couple of hippie swingers.  A good time is had by all.

Olga's House of Shame (1964)

Mawra's Olga series begins with White Slaves of Chinatown (1964), then Olga's Girls (1964), this film and finally Mme. Olga's Massage Parlor (1965), which is sadly considered lost.  There were other Olga films over the years (ex. Olga's Dance Hall Girls in 1969) but they aren't canon.

White Slaves of Chinatown (1964)

Mawra's Olga series begins with this film, then Olga's Girls (1964), Olga's House of Shame (1964) and finally Mme. Olga's Massage Parlor (1965), which is sadly now considered lost. There were other Olga films over the years (ex. Olga's Dance Hall Girls in 1969) but they aren't canon.

Brigitta (1967)

Another 1960s Nick Millard film, so you know what you're in for: dimly-lit stylistic B&W imagery with no dialog, only narration by a beautiful but unhappy woman who lives a detached and tragic life.
