Silent Bloodnight (2006)

Despite this film being universally hated (called "a stupefying mess" and "unintentionally comical and inadvertently insane" by reviewers), I still was curious how Austria would handle the slasher genre.  Let's check it out...

Night of the Scorpion (1972)

AKA La casa de las muertas vivientes (1972); a tale of a man plagued by the memory of his murdered wife.  When he brings home a new lady in his life, the past comes back to haunt him.  In the sixties and early seventies, these Gothic stories were huge - with countless paperbacks (aimed at women audiences) featuring women in peril at rural European estates haunted by ghosts, both real and imagined.

The Surrogate (1984)

A Canadian erotic thriller starring Shannon Tweed (so you know boobs at a minimum are forthcoming).

Four Times that Night (1971)

It's a romantic comedy by Mario Bava, so how could we not want to check this out.  Danger Diabolik, Blood and Black Lace, and Black Sabbath are among my favorite movies; so, it is interesting to see how he takes on a completely different genre.

The Sex Lives of Ghosts (2004)

It's an Emmanuelle picture, so you know it's going to just be about sex, with little else of interest.  Still, it features ghosts (and another in the series features Dracula), so I thought this late-night cable flick was worth at least taking a look.

Vengeance of the Zombies (1973)

I'm a sucker for anything with Paul Naschy - the more I watch his movies, the more I love them.  And what's not to love about the energetic, campy (but not overly so), sexy, over-the-top grooviness? And they strike all the right chords us monster movie lovers - like a Basil Gogos painting come to life, but with more boobs... and Naschy who's the closest thing you'll get to Shatner in his prime.

Darkroom (1989)

The video cover is a bit deceptive; while the film does have a little T&A, it's certainly not the steamy erotica depicted in the cover art.  It's the story of a girl who comes to stay with her family out in the country, only to have her relatives killed-off one by one, and come face to face with an obsessed psychopath.

The Sinister Doctor Orloff (1984)

Spanning three decades: It begins with The Awful Dr. Orlof (1962), then in the seventies we got Orloff Against the Invisible Man (1970), and The Sinister Eyes of Dr. Orloff (1973). Now, let's have a look at the eighties entry into the Orloff saga.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)

It was called "the Blue Velvet (1986) of high school horror movies" by the Los Angeles Times, and it's an apt description.  This ain't your typical horror sequel, as you'll soon see...

Howling II: ... Your Sister Is a Werewolf (1985)

Like the sequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, they decided to jettison any sense of seriousness, and play it campy.

Starlet (1969)

The first film to be released with a self-appointed XXX rating.  While it does have full frontal nudity, it definitely doesn't deserve the rating - but I'm sure it helped sell tickets.   Like Cool it Carole! (1970), it's a cautionary tale - of the price to be paid for making it big in Hollywood.  Is the fame and fortune worth the soul-crushing crap you have to go through to attain and keep the status?  Let's have a look...

Sex-O-Phrenia (1972)

Sex-O-Phrenia (AKA Diary of a Schizo), starring the always-awesome Rene Bond.  It's the story of a frustrated housewife who gets migraines which send her into fugues of nymphomania.

Erotic Curse of Cairo (1997)

Yet another entry in the 1997 "Click" series.  So far, we've seen The Body BeautifulSex, Lies and Politics , and Balls of Thunder. Why watch another?  These were all by different directors, each delivering a slightly different spin to the "clicker" plot - and they starred some of the hottest B-movie actresses of the day, such as Gabriella Hall and Jacqueline Lovell. So, let's see how this entry into the Click series stacks up...

Insatiable Wives (2000)

The title is a bit misleading.  It sounds like typical soft-core erotica, but is actually a body swap comedy.

The Virgins of Bumshausen (1970)

Orignal Title: Die Jungfrauen von Bumshausen.  A blacksmith takes care of the local women when their husbands are away breathing in the air of a mythical wind, the "Foehn", which supposedly imbues them with vitality - a sort of supernatural Viagra.
