Check to the Queen (1969)

Even an Italian cinema noob will recognize the director here - Pasquale Festa Campanile.  He wrote and directed about a hundred movies from the 1950s-1970s, and he's the man behind a couple of my favorite films from that country, the high anxiety thriller Hitch Hike (1977) and the brilliant sex-romp Secret Fantasy (1971). Already, my interest in Check to the Queen is piqued.

Add to that, this film has been hailed as a forgotten gem of hip-uber-cult-cool. One IMDb reviewer said it's the sort of thing Lou Reed would show at a private screening for John Waters.... hearing that, I knew this film simply had to be seen.

Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals (1977)

Declared too gory for softcore fans and too dull for gorehounds, this entry in the Black Emanuelle series has seemingly no target audience.  Capitalizing on the new cannibal film craze (started by Ruggero Deodato's Jungle Holocaust), director Joe D'Amato decided to ride the gravy train with all the same elements of the cannibal movie, but with more sex.  Sounds like a winning combination to me - let's see if it delivers...
