The First Bullfighter Porno (1986)

(Original Title: El primer torero porno) A Spanish film heavily laden with societal commentary about a bullfighter who wants to be a professor and a feminist stripper.

Jacinto (Joan Vázquez) the matador

Ana María (Emma Quer) - one of several women being doinked by Jacinto.

The joke here is that his matador costume scratches Ana Maria, leaving huge scars

Some great street views of adult entertainment

Ana Maria is actually a stripper

Another running gag (central to the story) is that Ana Maria is a rabid feminist.

Band-aids cover the scars from Jacinto's matador uniform.

It's not just a striptease either - it's a live sex show.  An interesting vocation for a devout feminist.

Jacinto is actually a left-wing militant on a hunger strike - he wants a chance to be more than a matador and teach again.

Jacinto's main girlfriend Juana (Blanca Martínez)

Also happening along the thoroughfare...

Ana Maria and her friend..

Silvia (Núria Cano) who works for the police commissioner.

They spot an a street advertisement for.. well, let's just say it involves a donkey.

The crowd eagerly anticipates the donkey-sex show (!)

One of the strippers is ready to take Estambul on stage

Lots o' nude strippers (? actresses) in this scene.

The strippers get in a huge battle over the donkey.

The boss Sr. Roig (Isidro Novellas) intervenes

And so the stripper has to go onstage without the beast.

But the crowd boos.

She's fully naked, but the audience wants that donkey!

Needless to say there's controversy backstage, with those that oppose the animal's inclusion.

Finally the stripper grabs the mule and goes onstage

Rabid feminist Ana Maria introduces Sr. Roig to Silvia, from the police commissioner's office.

A brief intermission with Jacinto and Juana getting it on in a train.

Juana is actually married with children; but that doesn't stop their wild little tryst.

Jacinto also gets it on with Elisabeth (Blanca Marsillach).  A brief pointless scene, but notable that it features Marsillach.

Jacinto and Ana Maria taka a beach holiday.

Ana Maria gets completely naked.  Jacinto is an enlightened left-wing dude, and so is cool with it.

Hilariously, they're playing futbol nearby and Jacinto keeps getting hit in the head by the ball.

Jacinto takes his matador sword and impales their ball.

Back to the strip club/live sex show: a showdown between Ana Maria, Silvia and Sr. Roig

Silvia, Jacinto (quite unwillingly) and Ana Maria get ready to get onstage.

Silvia and Jacinto, who've never done this before, follow Ana Maria's lead.

Ana Maria mounts Jacinto, while Silvia awkwardly holds his head.

They hide when it looks like the police are about to storm in.

Jacinto attempts to crawl away to safety (after noticing Juana in the audience), but Silvia and Ana Maria overpower him.

Jacinto finally breaks free and runs offstage.

Ana Maria runs after him, leaving Silvia to finish on her own.

Far from erupting into an angry spectacle, Juana and Ana Maria share similar views and become fast friends.

They take part in a feminist march.

In the end, the feminist and the left-wing militant matador earn a living onstage. THE END

The ham-fisted social commentary was exhausting, and frankly doesn't hold up much today.  Gobs of nudity, but a manic plot that flies all over the place, incessantly smacking you in the face with commentary on the hypocrisy of the sexual revolution, while simultaneously supporting it... which was confusing.  I'm sure much went over my head, so take this review with many grains of salt. Bottom line, enjoy the boobs, but be prepared for the accompanying sociology lesson.  Oh, and aside from the beach scene, it's not very funny.

 ★★★★☆5/10
