I ragazzi della Roma violenta (1976)

(AKA The Children of Violent Rome) An extremely violent movie about neo-Nazis in Italy who commit rape and all manner of ultra-violence.

RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆☆ 6/10

REVIEW: When the film is not delivering extreme violence, it's fairly boring overall. The violent acts really elicit horror and revulsion, but the parts in between elicit yawns and a compulsion to look at one's watch.  Paola Corazzi's death scene is one of the most horrifying things I've watched in a while. It's made worse by the fact that this is based on true events (the Circeo onslaught in the summer of the 1975)  I watched this film a while back, and was not going to review it, but have since shaken off the repulsion. Lady Stay Dead (1981) also featured a woman being drowned in a fish tank, but it didn't have this same dark vibe.

SYNOPSIS

The film begins with headlines and news-on-the-street about rising violence in and around Rome. We go to a meeting of your friendly neighborhood Nazis. Marco Garroni (Gino Milli) is their leader. He's a rich kid with psychological problems. Schizzo (Emilio Locurcio) is his Nazi colleague; however, he's not rich, coming from a very poor background. Marco proves his worth as a leader by beating up tough-guy, Gorilla (Gino Barzacchi). Enrico (Mario Cutini) was one of the founding members, but has been deemed a traitor for squealing to the police. Franca Faizzo (Sarah Crespi) is "that bitch that is screwing Enrico". She's brought in to the Nazi headquarters. Enrico tells Franca to do whatever the Nazis say.And what they say is for her to take off all her clothes. She's forced to have sex with one of the Nazis in front of Enrico and everyone.

Marco is a sadist who enjoys reading violent erotica. He reads the book, and the scene plays out. A woman has just taken a bath... She's attacked by a masked intruder, who Marco imagines as himself. The intruder rapes the woman. Anna (Alicia Bruzzo) is Schizzo's sister, and a whore. She strips and services a customer in a stockroom. Marco has one of his Nazis earn the trust of a couple girls, and then lure them in. The tall girl is Marina Boni (Paola Corazzi). Marina and her friend hang out with one of the guys, not suspecting he's a neo-Nazi. They have a good time dancing at the place. Marina's friend gets naked. Marina, however, resists and wants to leave. Her clothes are ripped off. She's assaulted, and tries to crawl out of there. Marco gets a hold of her... Her head is plunged into the fish tank. She's dead; her body is pulled out of the tank and plopped to the floor. Marco is arrested, but since he's rich, has to go to a clinic instead of prison. With Marco out of the picture, Schizzo gets the notion to prove his dominance by committing some ultra-violence. The target is Wanda (Stefania D'Amario). Wanda is stripped and raped by the gang. Marco drives his car off a cliff. THE END

  1. cool movie. pure exploitation. right wing extremism/terrorism was a real problem in italy in the 70's. adding the sex and the sleaze to an existing social malaise makes this movie a handbook expoitation film. btw i discovered your blog about a week ago. good stuff! post some caps from movies of the GODDESS Marisa Mell
