Animal Instincts III (1996)

A late-night cable erotic drama about a female author and her "blind" record producer boyfriend.  The girl engages in all manner of sexual exploits in front of him, clearly too stupid to know he actually sees it all.

So why watch watch a late-night cable shitfest that looks to be terrible from the very start?  Because there's promise of ample nudity... and I'm having trouble coming up with another reason.

Don't Answer the Phone! (1980)

The New York Times said the film was “a nasty, dimly executed exploitation movie about a psychopathic fellow who roams around Los Angeles strangling women with stockings and then mutilating their bodies. The performances are terrible, as are the writing and the direction."  I think that's as close to an endorsement for a VZ1 review as you'll get.  Let's have a look...

HauntedWeen (1991)

A slasher movie made in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with a bunch of amateur actors from Western Kentucky University. Let's have a look...

Killing Obsession (1994)

The IMDb user reviews are particularly harsh for this one. The critiques range from "some of the worst performances ever to grace modern film" to "possibly the worst working script ever written".  Also: "lousy sound design and incompetent audio recording" and "the perfect gift for someone you detest".

Movies in this genre (late night cable, erotic thriller) usually don't elicit such strong opinions.  These types of films are usually so bland and cookie-cutter you've completely forgotten about them five minutes after viewing.  Yet, Killing Obsession manages to transcend being forgettable and land in the "noteworthy levels of awfulness" domain.  Let's see if it deserves the negative attention it receives...

Carne (1968)

Carne is an Argentinian film starring Isabel Sarli.  It's often heralded as an artistic triumph, full of bold statements on social issues.  I saw it more as trashy sleaze masquerading as art.  You be the judge - let's have a look...

The Hillside Strangler (2004)

A fairly accurate portrait of Kenneth Bianchi, the real-life serial killer known as The Hillside Strangler.  It stars C. Thomas Powell, who looks absolutely shocking to those who remember him from his teen heart throb days in the eighties.

Lorna the Exorcist (1974)

Here we go - another Franco film, right in the middle of the sleaziest days of Euro horror cinema. As usual, it stars Lina Romay and other women willing to shed clothing.  The infamous crab attack scene is the main draw to this one.  Let's have a look.

One Shocking Moment (1965)

From the director of The Astro-Zombies (1968), a cautionary tale of a naive couple arriving in decadent California.  Will their marriage withstand the temptations of the LA lifestyle? Let's watch and find out...

Assault of the Party Nerds 2 (1995)

Assault of the Party Nerds 2: The Heavy Petting Detective, starring Michelle Bauer and Linnea Quigley.  If you haven't seen part one, no worries - believe me, you'll catch on.

Bibi (1974)

An erotic film featuring Marie Forså and basically the same cast as The Devil's Plaything (1973), also directed by Joe Sarno.

Miss Leslie's Dolls (1973)

Believed to be a long lost film, it was discovered just over ten years ago and restored. It's a weird one, that's for sure - let's have a look...

Cheerleader Massacre 2 (2011)

Jim Wynorski actually declined to direct this film - so, that would seem to be a red flag.  But with a title this good and a tagline this classic ("Gimme a Kill"), it's at least worth a try...
