The Smile of the Fox (1992)

It's an erotic thriller with a welcome twist of style starring the buxom Debora Caprioglio as the sexy neighbor of a gun-for-hire.  Let's press play....

Soap star Steve Bond plays Mark Derrick, a hired assassin who's tormented by the death of his wife.  Here he is washing away the pain with whiskey as he stays in an apartment serving as his stakeout of the unsuspecting target.

Mark is a hot mess.  He walks the busy streets of Buenos Aires picking up prostitutes, getting in fights, getting hammered, and just acting like a complete dumbass.

We learn that he's also haunted by his days as a law enforcement officer in Florida during the height of the cocaine wars.  We also learn he was a corrupt S.O.B., taking money from the drug lords.

Mark can't take his eyes off the lady in a neighboring building.  He keeps ogling her like a voyeuristic pervert.  But who can blame him?  Debora Caprioglio plays the sexy neighbor, Marina Valdez.

But let's not forget Mark has a job to do.  I'm not real sure at this point who he's supposed to kill or why.  For now, we just see Mark playing with his weaponry... then going back to getting hammered and spying on Marina.

Mark breaks into Marina's apartment and basically sexually assaults her.  She tells him to get the hell out.

Damn. I think we're supposed to think Mark is cool, but he seems like a creepy loser to me.

Back to watching Marina getting banged.  I'm sure Mark is beating off to this; mercifully, we don't have to witness that.

One day, Mark comes home to find Marina in his apartment, who literally presents him with her bush.

It looks like breaking into her apartment and attempting to assault her was a good move.  Marina is hot and bothered over Mark, and he's soon cradling her gigantic boobs.

But Mark just can't get enough.  The next day, he follows Marina into a dressing room and lays pipe.

I must say, the camera work is pretty masterful.  When viewing Marina, it is almost always from Mark's perspective.  We're seeing the voyeurism and actual sex through Mark's eyes.... a nice variation on the tired "erotic thriller" simulated sex scene of soft lenses and alto sax background music.

The two tango and pledge their love for one another.  Mark wants her to leave her pimp (did I mention she's a whore?) and run away together.

Flashback:  Mark remembers when his wife and kid were blown to kingdom come.  It was all his fault.  If he hadn't been such a shitty corrupt cop it would have never happened.

Marina is taken by her pimp's thugs and made to do kinky S&M with clients. Mark arrives to rescue her.

Mark has learned that the guy he's supposed to kill is Marina's pimp, Hank.  He pledges to get her out of this mess.. and straight-up murder his ass.

But Mark has been double-crossed.  It turns out that Marina has been working with Hank this whole time.  She fills Mark full of lead and walks off.

But Mark ain't dead yet!  He blows away Hank then chases down Marina...

Marina's dead, Hank's dead, Mark's wife is dead, Mark's kid is dead... and now Mark is even dead.  Everybody's dead.  THE END

Sergio Martino's direction keeps this from being just another erotic thriller.  The setting in Buenos Aires is nice as well... as are Debora Caprioglio's boobs, which we see lots of.  It's still pretty cliched and I'll probably forget I even watched this by tomorrow, but it was a sexy, fun ride while it lasted.
