Hell Mountain (1998)

In a post-apocalypse world, women are "harvested" and brought to work at Hell Mountain. The film was released in some markets as Chained Heat 3, although it has no relation to the original.

RATING: ☆☆☆☆ 4/10

REVIEW: The movie starts out strong - with the harvesting of the prisoners, the introduction of the post-apocalyptic world and its inhabitants, the slave auction... I mean, it wasn't perfect, but a strong beginning. But, soon after they disrobe at Hell Mountain, it just shits the bed. The film drags; Kal's quest is lame, and the Hell Mountain scenes are repeated over and over, with little in the way of plot advancement. I don't know - maybe I just got tired. It fizzled for me.

SYNOPSIS

Fifty years after a worldwide catastrophe has destroyed nearly all of civilization. Ariel (Kate Rodger) is being chased through the woods. Ariel is captured - harvested for the mines on Hell Mountain. Ariel is brought to warehouse where she will be sold into slavery. She is seated next to Vladimirá Kopalová, a brunette prisoner. Ariel's mother and father (Marta Hrachovinová and Seth Markel) come but there's nothing they can do to save her. Elsewhere, we meet two lovers, Shira (Nicole Nieth) and Kal (Bentley Mitchum). But Shira has been done dirty. Oona (Rebecca Floyd), Shira's mother, has sold her to Mayor Kradik (Vitezslav Bouchner). "The payment's made, and I have one less mouth to feed."

So, Shira is captured and brought to the warehouse. She's taunted by Rona (Tina Wiseman). Rona works for Stryker (Andrew McIlroy) who heads the slave trading operation. Ariel is put up for sale; Stryker pays based on weight.Kradik's daughter (Katie Petrosky) is next up. Yes, even the mayor's children are subject to Stryker's tithe. [Note that this might not be his actual daughter as an earlier scene has him trading her out for Shira. Not sure, but also not interested enough to learn.] Her vestments are ripped open and we find she's wearing a belt of bricks. This is to increase her weight so that Stryker will pay more money to the mayor. Rona is instructed to inspect the other prisoners to see if they are also wearing bricks. She inspects Vladimirá which basically just involves groping her boobs. Stryker demands to know from Kradik's daughter who made her wear the brick belt. The prisoners are thrown into the back of a truck to be hauled to Hell Mountain.

Kal and his buddy Teller (Christopher Clarke) arrive to save Shira but it's too late. Ariel crawls around the truck looking for items to help her once inside the pen. Shira and Ariel become allies. Kal and Teller attack the transport vehicle, but are unable to save the prisoners. Stryker and his right hand man Mr. Tigg (Richard Toth) kill Teller. Ariel and Shira are forced to change into the prisoner uniform. A ginger (Monika Vovsa) and brunette (Petra Spindlerová) also must change into the uniform. Vladimirá also changes. (It's a long scene.)

Lord Ulrik (Robert Russell) yells at Stryker for letting the attack happen. Lord Ulrik's wife Daneeka (Sarah Douglas) enjoys the company of her handmaidens Anika (Klara Hlouska) and Erin (Nada Vinecká). Stryker and Daneeka apparently have a thing going. Kal meets Dr. Garrett Steiner M.D. (Jack Scalia) the last professor on earth. There's something about a CD-ROM which Shira stole from Oona, which is now in Kal's possession. Apparently, Garrett has another and the data on these discs can somehow restore the world.

Ariel is stripped and whipped for bad behavior. Daneeka kills Oona who had come to warn them about the CD. Kal and Garrett do battle with Stryker's men. Daneeka calls Shira in for questioning. She is paired with Anika and Erin. When Daneeka awakens, she finds Shira has escaped. Kal has broken into Hell Mountain and finds Shira. They set the self-destruct operation to blow up Hell Mountain. Things get chaotic; Daneeka kills her husband. Hell Mountain blows up, and the movie pretty much ends there. THE END
