(Original Title: Las Muñecas Que Hacen ¡PUM!) Basically an Argentinian version of the Matt Helm movies. While Julio De Grazia is certainly no Dean Martin, it is interesting to see the "In Like Flint" take from the southern hemisphere.
Tony Esperanzato (Julio De Grazia) is picked up by a beautiful woman in a Mercedes.
Loba /She-Wolf (Silvia Pérez)
Tony is brought to the AM.OR headquarters at gunpoint by three ladies and inspected.
Jack Gran Tete (Javier Portales) head of AM.OR wants Tony for the next mission. But it's the same old story - he's out of the spy racket. So, he's bribed to take on this mission... which as you'll see, is a wasted of AM.OR money as this guy is absolutely worthless. At least Maxwell Smart and Frank Drebin would accidentally get the bad guys - this guy does nothing productive, not even by accident.
Let's meet the three AM.OR agents.
The evil counterpart to AM.OR is HATE, who are currently looking at the profiles of each agent.
Johanna (Mariquita Gallegos) is one of the head criminals of HATE
Tony is treated like a king at AM.OR headquarters.
I always love Susana Traverso, but I honestly wouldn't have recognized her without the credits.
Tony is surprise attacked by a HATE agent, but Once is able to kill the attacker. As stated, Tony is absolutely one-hundred-percent useless.
Tony is out with Mona; innocent bystanders die all around them - meant for comedic effect, but not so much.
Tony and Mona get their top secret information from an AM.OR agent disguised as a hobo.
To look inconspicuous, Tony and Money make out on the park bench, and it gets out of hand.
Tony and the three agents are ready to sneak into HATE HQ.
A first glimpse of the Muñecas - robot women rigged with explosives (a la Dr. Goldfoot).
The most explicit nudity in the entire film comes from Carmen Barbieri as one of the robots.
The mad scientist who created these robots, Professor (Eddie Pequenino), speaks with HATE agents Johanna and Aníbal (Rolo Puente) who you may remember from Las minas de Salomón Rey (1986)
The robot girls mechanically walk around the premises. Tony is captured, but once again saved by the three ladies.
This woman (Silvia Folgar) is frisked before she's allowed to meet with the ambassador. But she's a robot and explodes.
Supervisor (Norman Erlich), the top boss at HATE, is shown their new weapons, the exploding "fembots".
One of their newer models (Reina Reech) is prepped for her mission.
Johanna and the fembot turn themselves in to AM.OR.
The fembot tempts Tony, but (once again) he's saved by the three ladies.
Johanna also tries to tempt Tony.
Once again, Tony is saved. He's rewarded for his utter incompetence by a roll in the hay with Loba.
Once takes her turn with Tony.
They have Tony in captivity, and the three HATE masterminds (Supervisor, Johanna and Professor) decide to monitor him while he's seduced by various fembots.
The first fembot tries to seduce Tony.
She malfunctions when he pushes her away.
Supervisor watches on the monitor.
Jacqueline (Cecilia Cenci) interviews with Jack for a job with AM.OR
Cecilia Cenci is actually a great actress - see Gracias por los servicios (1988)
Jacqueline is actually a fembot, and seduces Jack.
Once and the girls catch her, and save the day (for easily the tenth time this film).
Tony is tempted by yet another fembot (not sure on the actress, maybe Silvia Rullán?).
The temptation works, she explodes, and Tony is carried to safety by (yet again) the three ladies. THE END
I really did enjoy this film, but it has one glaring problem - as mentioned earlier, the guy in the role of Matt Helm/Flint/Frank Drebin/Maxwell Smart/Austin Powers, etc. is just boring and worthless. Nothing against Julio De Grazia, but they really needed a compelling central character - who at least contributed something to the overall mission. The story itself was a bit all-over-the-place, with an unsatisfying and abrupt ending. That being said, there's a sexy fun energy here that's hard to resist.
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
