Tomb of the Werewolf (2004)

Notable for the fact that this is the very last of Naschy's decades-long Count Waldemar Daninsky series. Naschy came to Hollywood to act in this for Fred Olen Ray, and visited Forrest Ackerman's museum while he was here.

REVIEW: So ends the Waldemar saga, started decades ago in Spain. What a shitty, poor end to the series. In fact, I refuse to consider this canon - especially considering Naschy didn't write it. I mean, it didn't even do the sex right. Obviously, it failed on the horror front, as well as simple story and acting... but Fred Olen Ray usually can compensate by upping the T&A. Not so, this time. A total fail.

SYNOPSIS

Elizabeth Bathory (Michelle Bauer) has a woman (Jenna West) tied up for sacrifice. She makes a pact with Lucifer (Brian Carrillo). To retain her youth, she must kill beautiful young women and drink their blood. Fast forward to present day and Melanie Charles (Danielle Petty) is the host of a mystery TV series. Her boyfriend Tony (Edward Johnson) is the show's director. They have sex. Prepping for her next show, she reads up on the story of Waldemar Daninsky (Paul Naschy)... Waldemar was in love with Eleanor (Stephanie Bentley) but she dies of the Black Death. Bathory says he can have her back to life if he's willing to kill for it. Waldemar is forever cursed to become a werewolf.

Melanie and Tony arrive at the ancient estate of Richard Daninsky (John Richardson), a distant relative of Waldemar. Meet the cast of this reality show: Christie (Jacy Andrews), Leslie (Beverly Lynne), and some guy. Elizabeth Bathory is posing as the maid. Christie and Leslie share a room. Amanda (Stephanie Bentley) arrives, a spitting image of Eleanor. Richard has outlived his usefulness and is killed by the werewolf. Melanie hears something outside. Elizabeth visits Christie while she sleeps. They have sex. Christie finally snaps out of it and wonders what the hell just happened. Bathory checks herself in the mirror for signs of aging. Elizabeth convinces Christie that the rest of the crew is downstairs in the dungeon. When Christie wakes up, she finds herself naked and chained to a rack. Elizabeth slits her throat then, after she's dead, drinks her blood.

The crew wonder what happened to Christie. A pointless flashback of a Village Girl (Monique Alexander) having sex. The gang goes in search of Christie. Would you believe the werewolf kills Melanie? A bit unexpected as she seemed to be the main character. Elizabeth tries to kill Amanda with the silver cross, but gets killed herself when her magic necklace is knocked off. The werewolf tries to kill Leslie but... Amanda reminds the creature of the good ol' days, when she was Eleanor and he was Waldemar. The creature kills himself. THE END
